Schaffhausen Region
Schaffhauserland is a tourism region in the far north of Switzerland, in the canton of Schaffhausen, stretching from the Rhine Falls to Lake Constance. The region is shaped by the majestic Rhine, gentle hills, lush forests and the rolling vineyards of the Schaffhausen Blauburgunderland wine region. It combines the medieval old town of Schaffhausen with its many oriel windows, the romantic half-timbered town of Stein am Rhein, and the thundering Rhine Falls, Europe's largest waterfall. The landscape is largely rural and lowland, with the Randen hill range offering wide views, while the countryside is dotted with wine villages and vineyards. The region has a lively cultural scene with museums, theatres and festivals, and is a popular destination for cycling, hiking and Rhine boat trips.
Summer activities
Schaffhauserland is a paradise for cyclists, with routes along the Rhine, over the gentle hills of the Randen and through the vineyards, from relaxed family rides to sporty mountain and gravel bike tours. Hikers explore the landscape shaped by the Rhine, lush forests and the endless vineyards of the Blauburgunderland, climbing towers with views as far as the Swiss Alps. The Rhine itself offers boat trips from Schaffhausen to Stein am Rhein and on to Lake Constance, as well as boat tours close to the Rhine Falls, while numerous river and outdoor pools invite swimming and relaxing.

Schaffhauserland has a remarkably dense cultural scene for its size, with an exceptional concentration of international music festivals, a vibrant local art scene and diverse stages, museums and meeting places. The region is home to Switzerland's largest universal museum, theatres such as the Stadttheater Schaffhausen, and festivals including the International Bach Festival, the Schaffhausen Jazz Festival, the nordArt theatre festival and the open-air Stars in Town.
