Gypsum Museum Schleitheim

The Gypsum Museum in Schleitheim, in the canton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, is located in front of the last still accessible gypsum mine tunnel in the region and has been listed as a geotope of national importance since 2011. As the only museum of its kind in Switzerland, it illustrates the geological formation of gypsum, its mining, processing, properties and diverse uses in agriculture, construction, medicine and art. The highlight of the visit is the walk through the accessible gypsum mine tunnel, which is secured and electrically lit. The museum also hosts changing temporary exhibitions.
