ZüriUnterland
ZüriUnterland is a tourism and business region in the north of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland, spanning the districts of Bülach and Dielsdorf. It is a largely rural, gently rolling landscape of charming villages, small historic towns and vineyards, set between the Lägern ridge and the Rhine. The region is not dominated by a lake but is shaped by the Rhine along its northern edge and by the Töss and Glatt rivers. It combines tradition and modernity, with lively small towns such as Bülach and Dielsdorf serving as local centres, while much of the area remains green and natural, including protected wetlands and nature reserves. The region offers a broad range of outdoor, culinary, family and cultural experiences, and is easily reached from the city of Zurich and its airport.
Summer activities
In summer the ZüriUnterland offers a wide range of outdoor activities: gentle cycling and walking trails, hiking routes through the Rafzerfeld and along the Rhine, swimming in outdoor pools and the Haslisee, stand-up paddling and canoe tours on the Rhine, and wine tastings in the vineyards. The region also features nature trails, golf, tennis and wellness offers.
Winter activities
In winter the ZüriUnterland turns into a snowy landscape offering winter walks, tobogganing and ice skating under the open sky. A nostalgic ski lift at Regensberg offers skiing experiences close to home, and indoor pools and wellness facilities provide relaxation during the cold season.
Culture and entertainment
The ZüriUnterland has a lively cultural scene with numerous museums, theatres, cinemas, concerts and festivals spread across its towns and villages. The region is home to a rich cultural life, including a cultural prize, a youth short-film competition, a literature trail and an open-house event, supported by an active network of cultural venues and artists.
