Vindonissa Museum
The Vindonissa Museum in Brugg, Switzerland, presents the most important archaeological finds from Vindonissa, the only Roman legionary camp on the territory of present-day Switzerland. The museum is internationally renowned for the largest collection of Roman writing tablets, as well as rare finds of leather and wood and well-preserved equipment belonging to Roman soldiers. Visitors can enjoy an interactive experience of the ancient world through the permanent exhibition and a Roman garden. The museum also hosts changing temporary exhibitions.

  • Can I take a pram into the museum?
    Prams may be taken into the museum, but a large part of the exhibition is only accessible via stairs. Prams can be deposited at the reception.
  • Are lockers available for storing bags?
    Small bags up to size A4 are permitted in the exhibition rooms. Larger bags and rucksacks must be deposited in the cloakroom. Lockers are available free of charge (deposit CHF 1).
  • Are dogs allowed in the museum?
    Dogs are not permitted anywhere in the museum area.
  • Is the museum suitable for wheelchair users?
    The historic building is not barrier-free. At the main entrance, steps lead into the museum that cannot be bypassed, and there is no lift, so all floors can only be reached via stairs. The museum is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
  • Can I book a guided tour in English?
    Guided tours and other offers for groups and schools can be booked in English on request. The permanent exhibition is also translated into English.
