Swiss Straw Museum

The Swiss Straw Museum in Wohlen, Switzerland, is dedicated to the history of straw plaiting and the straw hat braiding industry of Switzerland, with a special focus on the Aargau Freiamt region. Its permanent exhibition traces the journey from rural home craft in the 18th and 19th centuries through early industrial mass production for the international fashion market to the industry's decline in the late 20th century. The museum preserves cultural treasures such as ornate hats, sample books, braids, agréments, straw pictures, documents, tools and small machines, and also hosts changing temporary exhibitions.

    Yes. A free guided tour of the permanent exhibition takes place on the first Sunday of each month at 14:00 (about 60 minutes, no registration required). Guided tours of the archive are offered on selected Saturdays at 14:15 (about 45 minutes, max. 12 participants, registration required).

    Yes. There is a disabled parking space and an outdoor lift on the left side of the building serving the reception and other floors. The accessible toilet is on the first floor. The access path is a gravel path.
