Stadtmuseum Aarau

The Stadtmuseum Aarau in Aarau, Switzerland, is a city museum dedicated to the history of the city of Aarau and the canton of Aargau. The permanent exhibition «100xAarau» explores how and with which objects Aargau's history can be told. A focus lies on photography, particularly in cooperation with the Ringier Bildarchiv, which comprises around 7 million analogue press images from the 1930s to the 1990s. The museum sees itself as a platform for participation and current social topics and also offers access to the Aufschluss Meyerstollen under Aarau station as well as the Kern collection on technology and industrial history. The museum hosts changing temporary exhibitions.

Families and Kids

At the Stadtmuseum Aarau there is much to discover for children, including a children's trail, a photo studio, stop-motion, a cut-out book, the Mini-Spur, a Telli Wimmelbild and a craft sheet. The interactive audio crime story «Mord im Museum» is aimed at children aged 10 and over.
