Museum of the Canton of Glarus

The Museum des Landes Glarus is located in the Freulerpalast in Näfels, Switzerland, a representative 17th-century manor house built between 1642 and 1648 for the guard captain Kaspar Freuler. The permanent exhibitions cover the cultural history of the canton of Glarus, including its alpine farming and cattle breeding, the textile printing industry, and the pioneering role of Glarus in Swiss skiing. Visitors can tour nine preserved 17th-century state rooms and learn about the region's history from the first settlements to the industrial era. The museum also hosts changing temporary exhibitions.

Families and Kids

The museum offers special activities for young visitors, including a children's quiz to discover the palace with the help of Kaspar Freuler, birthday parties with a crown, and interactive tours for school classes such as a textile printing workshop and a fairy-tale tour with dressing up.
