Museen Kloster Muri
The Museen Kloster Muri in Muri, Switzerland, comprise several museums within the historic Benedictine monastery complex. The Museum Kloster Muri tells the story of the powerful Benedictine abbey founded by the Habsburgs in 1027, from the Reformation and Baroque splendour to the dissolution of the monastery in 1841. The Museum Caspar Wolf is dedicated to the pioneering Swiss Alpine landscape painter Caspar Wolf (1735–1783), with one of the most comprehensive collections of his work. The Singisen Forum presents contemporary regional art, while the Museum for Medical History Books explores the history of anatomy, natural knowledge and medicine. The complex also includes the Baroque monastery church with its famous octagon and Renaissance stained-glass cloister.
Families and Kids
Children and young people up to 16 years have free admission to the museums. The museums offer guided tours and creative workshops for school classes, such as the Farblabor and Gletscher ade workshops at the Museum Caspar Wolf and the Fromm, frommer, am frommsten...? workshop at the Museum Kloster Muri, where children can paint, create collages and try medieval writing with quill and ink.
