Lötschental Museum

Lötschental Museum
The Lötschental Museum in Kippel in the Lötschental valley (Switzerland) is a place for the preservation and documentation of cultural heritage and a cultural centre. Over 100 wooden masks offer a panorama of the development of mask-making in the Lötschental from 1850 to the present day. Original objects and films show the festive costumes of the women of Lötschen and the historical uniforms of the Herrgottsgrenadiere. The permanent exhibition covers themes such as domestic culture, agriculture and tourism as well as the depiction of the valley and its people in photography and art; the museum also regularly presents changing temporary exhibitions.

Families and Kids

The museum gives children an insight into the traditions and customs of the Lötschental, for example through the mask show and films. Children pay a reduced admission. Special children's programmes are organised on request.
