Bannalp

Bannalp is a family-friendly ski area in Oberrickenbach, Switzerland. Two ski lifts at Chrüzhütte and Urnerstaffel serve the pistes at almost 2,000 m above sea level, and the Chrüzhütte mountain station is also the starting point for ski, snowboard and snowshoe tours.

Families and Kids

The Bannalp ski area is described as family-friendly, with two ski lifts for relaxed skiing and snowboarding. The Berghaus Heimelig offers a play meadow and is located directly at the ski lift.

Food and drinks

The Bannalp offers several mountain inns and alpine restaurants, including the Berggasthaus Bannalpsee near the lake, the Berggasthaus Urnerstaffel, the Alpwirtschaft Chrüzhütte, the Alpwirtschaft Oberfeld on the Walenpfad and the Alp Haghütte with its own cheese dairy. The Schneebar Nätschbode is open only in winter during ski lift operation and serves a small but fine menu.

FAQ

  • Is there a half-day ski pass?
Yes, half-day tickets valid from 12:00 are available for adults, children, seniors, students, groups and families.
  • Do the ski lifts only run when there is enough snow?
Yes. The ski lift operation lies at almost 2,000 m and depends on good snow conditions; the pistes can only be prepared and the lifts operated when there is enough snow, so it is advisable to check with the cable car company beforehand.
  • Is there a season pass for ski tourers?
Yes, a ski-touring season pass covering the cable car plus 12 ski lift rides is offered.
  • How do I reach the ski area from the valley station?
A 15-person aerial cable car runs from Fell to Chrüzhütte in about 10 minutes, departing every 30 minutes in the morning and afternoon; the Chrüzhütte station is the starting point for the ski area.
  • Are there snowshoe trails on the Bannalp?
Yes, snowshoe trails run from Chrüzhütte to Nätschboden and from Chrüzhütte via Bannalpsee and Urnerstaffel back to Chrüzhütte.
