Trauffer Adventure World

The Trauffer Adventure World in Hofstetten bei Brienz (Switzerland) is the home of the famous red wooden cow. In the KUHniversum experience tour, visitors discover the history, tradition and sustainable production of the handcrafted wooden toys of Trauffer Switzerland. In addition to the tour, there is a flagship store, restaurants, a children's playground and the largest solid wooden cow in the world. The adventure world also hosts changing temporary exhibitions and hands-on activities.

Families and Kids

The Trauffer Adventure World is very family-friendly. Children can paint wooden animals as MuhMalermeister (from a young age), while carving a wooden cow is possible from age 12. The renovated children's playground features a slide, wooden bowling alley, KUHgelbahn and a wooden animal petting zoo. Note that the wooden toys are not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts.

    Yes, on the KUHniversum experience tour you can spontaneously decide to carve a wooden cow (from age 12) or paint wooden animals as a MuhMalermeister, suitable for children and adults. Carving and painting costs CHF 35, painting wooden animals CHF 15, bookable directly in the tour.
  • Is the KUHniversum experience tour accessible for wheelchairs and strollers?
    Yes, the KUHniversum experience tour is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible. However, dogs are not allowed on the tour, although they are welcome elsewhere in and around the building.
  • Can I have my old wooden toy repaired at the Holztierklinik?
    Yes, in the Holztierklinik within the KUHniversum tour you can have your favourite wooden animal repaired. Repainting spots costs CHF 10, replacing ears/horns/tail CHF 5, mounting a new bell with band CHF 5, and wood repairs (leg) on request.
