The Castle of Montebello
The Castle of Montebello in Bellinzona, Switzerland, is the second castle of the UNESCO-listed Fortress of Bellinzona, perched ninety metres above the city. Its oldest section dates back to the 13th/14th century, with the external courtyards and towers built in the 14th/15th century. Inside, the Archeologia Montebello exhibition itinerary retraces the history of the medieval manor, its restoration works, and the main stages of human history reconstructed from archaeological finds in the region. The castle also hosts changing temporary exhibitions and offers a playground and panoramic views.
