The Solbad & Spa Schönbühl in Urtenen-Schönbühl near Bern, Switzerland, is home to Switzerland's largest natural saltwater bathing landscape with over 600 m² of water surface. In addition to indoor and outdoor pools with 35-degree warm saltwater, the bath offers a sauna world with Finnish, bio, earth-fire and panoramic infusion saunas as well as a herbal steam bath. A spa circuit with blossom sauna, steam bath and sea salt peeling as well as massages and treatments round off the offer. A Mediterranean park oasis and a bistro invite you to linger.

Families and Kids

Children aged 4 to 15 are welcome in the natural saltwater bath daily from 09:00 to 17:00 accompanied by an adult. The bath is a place of calm – shouting, splashing, diving or running around is not allowed. The sauna, spa and massage areas are only accessible from age 16.

  • Are there age restrictions for children?
    Children under 4 years are not admitted. Children aged 4 to 15 may visit the natural saltwater bath until 5 pm accompanied by an adult. The sauna, spa and massage areas are only accessible from age 16.
  • Is swimwear mandatory at the Solbad?
    Yes, swimwear is mandatory in the bathing area. Sauna and steam rooms are textile-free, with the exception of the textile steam bath in the natural saltwater bath. Underwear under swimwear is not allowed.
  • Can massages be booked for children?
    Children and young people under 16 cannot book a massage. From age 16, a massage is only possible accompanied by an adult; from age 18, it is also allowed without accompaniment.
  • Are there special regulations on Thursdays?
    On Thursdays (except public holidays), the spa circuit is reserved exclusively for women. Sauna and bath remain open to all guests. Men have access to massages on this day.
  • Can swimwear and bathrobes be rented?
    Yes, on site you can rent a sauna towel (CHF 6), bathrobe (CHF 8), swimwear (CHF 8) and a private changing room (CHF 8, weekdays on request).
