Sewing Machine Museum
The Sewing Machine Museum at Pilgersteg in Dürnten (Zürcher Oberland, Switzerland) makes the history of the mechanical sewing machine tangible. The exhibition shows the historical and technical development from the end of the 18th century to modern times with several hundred antique sewing machines, accessories and objects from related fields such as shoemaking and fur processing. The museum is listed as a technology museum and Zurich memory institution and also offers changing thematic exhibitions in the Museum-in-Museum (MIM).
Families and Kids
The museum recommends visiting only from age 10 due to the risk of injury from some exhibits. Children can try out old treadle sewing machines, which is great fun. Special guided tours for school classes are offered at reduced rates.
