Sensorium

The Sensorium in Walkringen (Rüttihubelbad) in Switzerland is an interactive field of experience for the senses, based on the ideas of Hugo Kückelhaus. On 1,750 m², visitors can experience sounds, colours, vibrations and scents with all their senses at around 80 stations and explore physical phenomena with light and darkness. The museum deliberately understands itself as an analogue experience space without electronic aids and invites mindful perception. It also offers changing special exhibitions and a comprehensive range of guided tours and workshops.

  • Is the Sensorium suitable for children, and from what age?
    Families may bring children of any age, though it generally becomes interesting from around seven years. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a person at least 16 years old, and adults must always accompany children during the visit.
  • Can the Sensorium be visited in bad weather?
    Yes. In good weather you can also explore the outdoor stations and enjoy the view, while in bad weather you can reach the museum directly by Postauto or by car with parking nearby.
  • How long should I plan for a visit?
    At least two hours are recommended; many visitors stay half a day or longer. Admission is a day ticket, allowing you to leave and re-enter freely.
  • Is the museum accessible for wheelchair users and people with disabilities?
    Yes, the exhibition is wheelchair accessible and offers special offers such as a wheelchair swing. However, the sensory perceptions such as light phenomena, vibrations and sounds can overstimulate the senses depending on the disability.
  • Are dogs allowed in the exhibition?
    Except for guide dogs, dogs are not permitted in the exhibition. They can be tied up outside or in the entrance area.
  • Is the Sensorium an anthroposophical museum?
    No. Although the Sensorium has been housed in the anthroposophical Rüttihubelbad foundation since 2004, the museum has no connection to anthroposophy. Its philosophy is based on the ideas of Hugo Kückelhaus.
