Roman Museum

The Musée Romain in Avenches, Switzerland, is housed in a medieval tower built from the 11th century above the entrance of the Roman amphitheatre. Its permanent exhibition presents the most important finds from the Roman city of Aventicum, including a copy of the gold bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, sculptures, mosaics, stone inscriptions, fragments of a Roman organ and numerous everyday objects. The museum also presents the history of the Helvetian capital and hosts changing temporary exhibitions.

The museum offers a game booklet for young visitors and families that accompanies the visit to the permanent exhibition in a playful way, with mazes, mystery words and small investigations. Workshops and guided tours on special themes are also offered for school classes and children's groups.
