Ovronnaz is a mountain resort in the Swiss canton of Valais, set on a sunny terrace above the Rhône valley in the Muverans massif. It is a compact, rural village resort rather than a big city, surrounded by larch forests and high Alpine terrain. The resort is known for its thermal baths, the Bains d'Ovronnaz, which offer pools and a spa with panoramic views of the Alps. A chairlift connects the village to the Jorasse summit area, opening up hiking, mountain biking and winter sports. The village hosts a lively programme of concerts, weekly animations and events such as the Fromage & Cime festival and the Cross Ovronnaz–Rambert trail race. Ovronnaz is a nature-focused destination with no large urban centre, where the thermal centre and the surrounding mountains define the experience.
Summer activities
In summer, the Jorasse chairlift runs daily from June to late October, giving access to hiking trails that start at the summit as well as walks around the village. The resort offers mountain biking and e-biking, trail running, all-terrain scooters, a mini zoo at Jorasse, a larch relaxation park, climbing and a via ferrata, paragliding, tennis and a Finnish track. The Bains d'Ovronnaz thermal pools and outdoor terraces are a year-round highlight, and weekly animations, treasure hunts and events such as the Cross Ovronnaz–Rambert trail race round out the summer programme.
Winter activities
In winter, Ovronnaz offers skiing and snowboarding on its slopes served by the Jorasse chairlift and a baby lift, with a snow report and piste map. Beyond downhill skiing, the resort provides winter hiking and snowshoeing, ski touring, cross-country skiing and sledding, as well as a telemark race (La Clandestina) and the Jib Night freestyle event. The thermal baths remain a popular winter retreat after a day on the slopes.
Culture and entertainment
Ovronnaz has a lively cultural and entertainment scene for a small resort, centred on the Bains d'Ovronnaz and the village. Weekly animations, concerts (including accordion concerts at the chapel), afterwork and karaoke evenings at the baths, and events such as the Fromage & Cime cheese festival, the Cross Ovronnaz–Rambert trail race and the Jass card tournament give the village a sociable, festive character throughout the year.
