MUZOO

MUZOO is a natural history museum and zoo combined on one site in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Its reference exhibition addresses the theme of biodiversity and the threats it faces, complemented by a vivarium presenting reptiles and amphibians. The institution also hosts changing temporary exhibitions on nature and the environment. Scientific collections cover mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, geology, mineralogy and palaeontology.

Families and Kids

MUZOO offers many activities for children, including the Dahu Club nature club for children aged 6 to 12, birthday party packages with themed animations, and school and public activities. Children under 12 enter the museum and vivarium free of charge.

Opening hours

The zoo is open daily from 8:00 to 18:00 in summer and from 8:00 to 17:00 in winter. The museum, vivarium, cafeteria and shop are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:45 in summer and from 10:00 to 16:45 in winter.

    A cafeteria offers various dishes and drinks, with a terrace open in good weather. Picnicking is possible within the zoo grounds.
  • Can I buy animals from the zoo?
    No, the animals are not for sale. However, young dwarf goats are sold to private individuals once they reach 4 months of age, subject to welfare guarantees and only in pairs.
  • Is the site accessible for people with reduced mobility?
    Yes, all paths are paved, although the main path is fairly steep. The toilets in the museum and zoo are adapted, and a PMR parking space and ramp are available.
  • Are strollers allowed at MUZOO?
    Strollers are admitted in the museum, but for visitor comfort and fire safety they are not allowed in the vivarium.
