Museum Schloss Burgdorf

The Museum Schloss Burgdorf in Burgdorf, Switzerland, presents the history of the castle, the town and the region in connection with the world and the present in a multimedia format across more than 20 rooms and 1,500 m² of exhibition space. Three collections – the historical collection of the Rittersaalverein, the ethnographic collection and the Goldkammer Schweiz – are combined in the concept of cabinets of curiosities. Themes include the Zähringen dynasty and the Middle Ages, Pestalozzi and education, town and industrial history, and gold from the Napf. The museum is housed in the best-preserved Zähringen castle complex and is used together with a youth hostel and a restaurant. The museum also hosts changing special exhibitions.

Families and Kids

The museum offers family tours and workshops, including medieval castle tours with a castle maid or knight and holiday workshops for children aged 4 to 12. Children up to 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. The third and each additional child in a family receives free admission.
