Museum of Music Automatons
The Museum of Music Automatons in Seewen, Solothurn, houses one of the world's largest collections of original Swiss music boxes and mechanical musical automatons spanning several centuries. The collection includes cylinder and disc music boxes, musical clocks, orchestrions, phonographs, gramophones, jukeboxes, and the famous Welte Philharmonic organ believed to be from the Britannic. The museum is an institution of the Federal Office of Culture and preserves Switzerland's intangible cultural heritage of mechanical music.
Families and Kids
The museum offers a varied program for children and teenagers, including the 'Zauberklang' (Magic Sound) riddle where children punch and play their own melody, and Family Days with workshop insights, hands-on stations, and a treasure hunt. Young visitors can discover the sounding ancestors of streaming services at their own pace.
