Museum Obwalden

The Museum Obwalden in Sarnen, Switzerland, is a cultural history museum dedicated to the history and folk culture of the canton of Obwalden. The permanent exhibition displays around 750 objects on two floors, including a fully equipped alpine hut, an alphorn to try out, and an impressive collection of votive tablets. Children can enjoy themselves in the playroom with a dressing-up corner and a coin-stamping machine. The museum holds a collection of nearly 20,000 objects and also presents changing special exhibitions.

Opening hours

The museum closes on 1 December 2024 for a comprehensive renovation and reopens in spring 2027 with a new permanent exhibition.
