Museum Murten
The Museum of Morat (Musée de Morat) is one of the oldest museums in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland, housed since 1978 in the old water mill beneath the city walls. Its permanent exhibition illustrates 6,000 years of the history of Morat and its region across five levels, covering settlements from the New Stone Age and Bronze Age, the Celts and Romans, life and work in the medieval city, and the period under Bernese and Fribourg rule. A multimedia show recounts the events of the memorable Battle of Morat. The museum also hosts changing temporary exhibitions.
