Museum Kleines Klingental

The Museum Kleines Klingental in Basel, Switzerland, presents an extensive collection of medieval sandstone sculptures from Basel Minster, including dragons, saints and mythical creatures. The museum is housed in the founding building of the former Dominican convent of Klingental on the Kleinbasel bank of the Rhine and is the only convent building of the former ten large monasteries of Basel that is open to the public. Highlights include a large-scale model of the monastery from 1510, a model of the city of Basel in the 17th century, and the wooden Wheel of Fortune with its original sandstone figures. The museum also offers guided tours, concerts and changing temporary exhibitions on Basel's cultural history.

Children can explore the museum in their own way with the free puzzle booklet 'Museumsdetektive gesucht!' (Museum detectives wanted!). Guided tours specially tailored to children are aimed at children aged 6 to 12, and the puzzle walk from the Minster to the Kleines Klingental is intended for children aged 6 to 10 with an accompanying adult.
