The Museum der Kulturen Basel (MKB) in Basel, Switzerland, is the largest ethnological museum in Switzerland and one of the most significant of its kind in Europe. Its world-renowned collection comprises over 340,000 objects, around 900,000 photographs, and 400 films and sound recordings from around the world. The exhibitions address contemporary and everyday themes and foster understanding of one's own and other cultures. The museum also offers a museum shop, a museum bistro, and changing special exhibitions.

Families and Kids

The museum offers workshops for children and families as well as children's birthday parties from age 6. In the Kreativbox, children can create and discover in the exhibition. Family workshops take place on the first Sunday of the month.

  • Is there a cloakroom where I can deposit backpacks and bags?
    Yes, backpacks, bags and suitcases must be deposited in the cloakroom. Handbags up to DIN A4 size may be taken into the exhibitions.

    Animals must stay outside. Exceptions are guide dogs for the blind and medically prescribed assistance dogs (with a medical certificate), which are allowed throughout the museum.
