The Museum Augusta Raurica in Augst, Switzerland, is an archaeological museum dedicated to the Roman town of Augusta Raurica, one of the most important Roman sites in Switzerland. The museum displays a selection of over two million archived finds that attest to the people who once lived here, their tastes and their sense of humour. Visitors can also explore the fully furnished Roman house, a Roman villa modelled on an urban villa in Pompeii, as well as numerous monuments, ruins and an animal park with Roman-era farm animals. The museum also hosts changing temporary exhibitions.

Families and Kids

The museum displays some objects at eye level especially for younger visitors, and there are family tours of the museum and guided tours for families in the Roman house. Children's birthday parties are offered with workshops such as Roman bread baking and Roman pottery and clay modelling. The animal park with Roman-era farm animals is also popular with families.

From March to October the museum and Roman house are open daily from 10:00 to 17:00; from November to February they are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 15:00. The open-air site is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
