Museo di Castelgrande

The Museo di Castelgrande is located in Bellinzona, Switzerland, in the southern wing of Castel Grande, the ducal fortress restored by architect Aurelio Galfetti in the 1980s-1991. Its historical-archaeological section presents a concise overview of 6,500 years of human presence on the hill, from the first Neolithic village to the 20th century, including a collection of 16th-century coins. The historical-artistic section includes a group of tempera drawings on paper (c. 1470) that originally adorned the wooden ceiling of a 15th-century town residence. The museum also hosts changing temporary exhibitions in the bright Sala Arsenale.
