Mainau Castle

Mainau Castle is a baroque castle of the Teutonic Order on the flower island of Mainau in Lake Constance near Konstanz, Germany. Built between 1739 and 1746 according to plans by Johann Caspar Bagnato, the castle houses the historic coat of arms hall with changing exhibitions and the castle café in its lower section. The centrepiece, the White Hall, is only open to the public for concerts and special occasions. Adjacent is the baroque castle church of St. Marien with its significant interior.

Families and Kids

The island of Mainau offers a large adventure playground, a petting zoo and a children's treasure hunt. Children up to 12 years receive free admission. Bollerwagen (wagons) can be borrowed free of charge for families at the island entrance and harbour.

  • Is the White Hall in Mainau Castle accessible to visitors?
    The White Hall is only open to the public for concerts or special occasions such as the Countly Castle Festival. The lower part of the castle with the coat of arms hall and changing exhibitions is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00.
