Lichtspiel / Kinemathek Bern
The Lichtspiel / Kinemathek in Bern, Switzerland, is a cinematheque and museum dedicated to film history, operating in a former factory building since 2000. Its collection includes over 25,000 film reels, cinematographic machines, cameras and documents spanning more than 100 years of film-making history. Visitors can explore the exhibition and museum, which are open around screenings, and discover the world of film technology, projectors and amateur film culture. The institution also hosts changing temporary exhibitions and film programmes.
Families and Kids
The Lichtspiel offers school workshops and courses on film history and film technology, where children can learn how films are projected and even make their own short films. A special film workshop programme for kindergarten and primary school classes in the canton of Bern lets children experiment with film tricks and see their films on the big screen.
