La Tzoumaz
La Tzoumaz is a family-friendly alpine resort in the heart of the Swiss canton of Valais, part of the Verbier 4 Vallées ski area. Nestled on a sunny plateau above the Rhône valley, this small mountain village offers panoramic views over the Grand Combin, Mont Blanc, the Muverans and the Bernese Alps. The resort is dominated by high mountains and nature rather than a lake, with marked hiking and mountain-bike trails, an Espace Nature forest area and the Vallon d'Arbi valley. In winter it connects directly to the 410 kilometres of pistes of the 4 Vallées, while in summer its lifts open up the surrounding peaks. La Tzoumaz is a rural, tranquil destination centred on outdoor activities, with the nearby town of Riddes and the wider Verbier–Val de Bagnes destination as its main hubs.
Summer activities
In summer La Tzoumaz offers a wide range of marked hiking trails, from family walks around the station to high-altitude routes, trail running, mountain huts and guided tours. The Espace Nature forest area is a highlight, with the Sentier des Sens sensory trail, the Maison de la Forêt and the Défis de la Rivière challenges. Cyclists are well served with a downhill bike park, VTT and eBike routes, road cycling, a pumptrack and a dirt park. The summer lifts open up the surrounding peaks such as Savoleyres, the Pierre Avoi and the Lac des Vaux, and there are also activities like canyoning, climbing, a zipline and a luge track.
Winter activities
La Tzoumaz is a winter sports resort whose ski area, from the summit of Savoleyres at 2200 metres, is directly connected to the 410 kilometres of pistes of the Verbier 4 Vallées domain. With optimal snow cover and maximum sunshine, its north- and south-facing slopes suit all levels. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers freeriding in the Vallon d'Arbi, a luge track, the Audi Quattro Funslope, competition stadiums at Savoleyres, winter hiking and snowshoeing in the forest, and even igloo building. A ski bus serves the station.
