KMM Cultural Centre

The KMM Cultural Centre in Dürnten, Switzerland, is a museum dedicated to mechanical music instruments and automata. The permanent exhibition shows the industrial importance of mechanical music instruments in Switzerland and worldwide, with rooms styled after the Gründerzeit, Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. Visitors can see cylinder music boxes, flute cabinets, puppet automata, self-playing pianos, orchestrions, phonographs and impressive fairground and concert organs in the large organ hall. The museum is visited exclusively with a guided tour, during which many instruments are played live, and it also hosts changing temporary exhibitions.

Families and Kids

The KMM offers family tours suitable for children from 6 years, with a companion booklet tailored to their needs. In the newly designed Chilbibereich (fairground area), the whole family can linger and actively deepen what they have seen and heard. Children's parties and birthdays with child-friendly tours, food and a ride on the historic carousel can also be organised.

    No. The museum can only be visited with a guided tour lasting about 1.5 hours. The tour is included in the admission price during regular opening hours.
  • When do the guided tours take place?
    Guided tours take place on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 13:30 and 15:30. A special family tour is offered on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at 11:00. Groups of 10 or more can book individual appointments from Tuesday to Sunday.
