Fortress Nauders
The Fortress Nauders in Nauders am Reschenpass in Tyrol, Austria, is the only fully preserved fortress structure in Austria from the first half of the 19th century. Built around 1840 to protect Tyrol's southern border, the complex comprises over 70 rooms, some up to 20 metres deep in the mountain. Opposite stands the barracks with its bunkers set into the mountain, and remains of the medieval Niklasmauer wall are still visible. Guided tours are offered in summer.
