Fort de Pré Giroud
The Fort de Pré Giroud in Vallorbe, Switzerland, is a historic military fortification disguised as a chalet, where Swiss troops were mobilized during the Second World War. The museum recreates the life of soldiers during the 1939-1945 mobilization, displaying period weapons, equipment and 80 mannequins. It recounts key events at the border, such as the French military retreat, the arrival of German troops and the liberation of the Doubs in September 1944. It was the first military fortification in Switzerland opened to the public.
