Château de Gruyères

Château de Gruyères is a historic castle and museum located in the medieval town of Gruyères in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. The medieval fortress, built in the 13th century, was successively home to the Counts of Gruyère, the bailiffs of Fribourg and the Geneva Bovy and Balland families before being opened to the public in 1939. Visitors can explore eight centuries of history through furnished rooms, collections of furniture, objects and artworks from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, as well as a French-style garden. The castle also hosts changing temporary exhibitions.
