Castel Grande and the wall
Castel Grande in Bellinzona (Ticino, Switzerland) is the largest of the three castles of Bellinzona and part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The first human settlement on San Michele hill dates back to the Neolithic period, and the first archaeologically confirmed fortification was built in the 4th century AD. Its current appearance results from the restorations of 1984-1991 directed by architect Aurelio Galfetti. Visitors can see the 27-metre Torre Bianca with a 360-degree view, the Torre Nera, as well as a museum with a slideshow. The Sala Arsenale hosts changing national and international exhibitions.
