Basel Historical Museum – Music Museum

The largest collection of musical instruments in Switzerland, housed in a former monastery and prison in Basel. Over 550 European instruments from five centuries are displayed in 24 former prison cells, including the oldest intact Basel 'Drummle' from 1571.

Children can explore historical musical instruments at the Musik-Atelier, a drop-in workshop with puzzling, listening, playing and crafting. The museum offers family programmes and guided tours suitable for children accompanied by adults.
