Bains des Pâquis

The Bains des Pâquis is a historic lakeside bathing establishment on the jetty of the same name in Geneva, Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Geneva. It offers a beach and swimming area with diving boards, a climbing wall, a zip line and a paddling pool, as well as swimming lessons and winter swimming facilities. The site also houses a wellness area with saunas, hammams and a Turkish bath, massage services, and hosts cultural events such as exhibitions, poetry readings and philosophy cafés.

Families and Kids

During the summer season, children are welcome at the Bains des Pâquis with a slide, sandpit, paddling pool, zip line, climbing wall over the water, diving boards (3m, 5m, 10m), swimming lessons, foosball, ping-pong tables and board games. A changing table is available for babies, and a shaded 'maman' area with hammocks is provided in the women's area. Pirate birthday treasure hunts are organised for children aged 4-12.

Opening hours

The beach is open daily from the start of the good weather until the end of September, depending on the weather. The wellness area (sauna, hammam, Turkish bath) is open from September to May, Tuesday to Friday 9:00-21:00, Saturday and Monday 9:00-22:30, Sunday 8:00-22:30.

  • Are there age restrictions for children?
    Children under 6 years enter free of charge. Swimming lessons for children start from age 5. The pirate birthday treasure hunt is designed for children aged 4-12. During the summer season, children are welcome and can use the slide, sandpit, paddling pool, zip line, climbing wall and diving boards.
  • Is the wellness area (sauna, hammam, Turkish bath) open all year round?
    The wellness area operates on a seasonal basis. It is open from September to May (season 2026/2027 runs from 20 September 2026 to 23 May 2027). During the summer, only the hammam remains open in the mornings from 9:00 to 13:00. The facilities reopen fully on 20 September.
  • Is the wellness area accessible to everyone or are there special days?
    The wellness area is mixed on most days, but Tuesday is reserved exclusively for women. The saunas, hammams, Turkish bath and rest room are silent zones. Nudity is the norm in the traditional sauna, and swimwear is tolerated but bermudas and swim shorts are prohibited.
  • Can I book or reserve the wellness area?
    No reservation or privatisation is possible for the wellness area. You can stay as long as you wish, but once you leave, the exit is definitive. If the facilities are full, you receive a buzzer and wait.
  • Are animals allowed at the Bains des Pâquis?
    No, animals are unfortunately not admitted on the Bains des Pâquis site. However, the Rade de Genève is a site with great bird diversity, and the Bains are a privileged place to observe migratory birds such as tufted ducks, pochards, gulls, grey herons and great cormorants.
  • Is the site accessible for people with reduced mobility?
    Yes, the Bains are accessible to people with reduced mobility. The access ramp has a platform for wheelchairs, and the toilets and showers have been specially designed to be accessible to everyone, particularly people with reduced mobility. A lift is also available.
