Appenzeller Badi

The Appenzeller Badi is an outdoor swimming pool (Freibad) in Appenzell, Switzerland, offering a 50-meter pool with five lanes, massage jets, 1m and 3m diving boards, a pirate ship slide, and a small children's pool. The facility also features a beach volleyball court, playground, sandbox, table tennis, and table football. A kiosk and restaurant serve snacks, Pinsa, ice cream, and children's menus, and there are two barbecue areas. The pool also hosts changing temporary exhibitions and events.

Opening hours

Opening hours are weather-dependent. In May and September the pool is open from 08:00 to 19:00 in good weather and from 08:00 to 13:00 when cloudy. From June to August it is open Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 20:00 and on weekends from 08:00 to 20:00 in good weather.

  • Is the entrance free for guests who only want to use the restaurant?
    Yes, guests who only want to use the restaurant can enter for free.
  • Are there parking facilities near the pool?
    Parking is available at Bleichestrasse, with a bridge over the Sitter leading directly to the pool entrance. Free parking is also available at the Sportanlage Schaies, and paid parking at Brauereiplatz.
  • Can I grill at the pool?
    There are two barbecue areas with tables and benches. A fire is made around 11:15 and 17:15. Note that during forest fire danger, grilling may be temporarily prohibited.
