Wildhaus

The Wildhaus ski area lies between the Churfirsten and the Säntis in the upper Toggenburg and extends between 1020 and 2076 m above sea level. It offers 28 kilometres of pistes, six lifts, three fun parks and the Klangslope, as well as the Wildhaus snow sports school with its own children's area.

Families and Kids

The Wildhaus snow sports school teaches the youngest children their first turns on the slopes with Snowli and a dedicated children's ski instructor team, and has its own children's area. The Klangslope offers waves, curves, a snow house and sound elements such as a rideable piano and a glockenspiel, plus a tunnel with images of traditional life in the Toggenburg. There is also a large adventure playground at Oberdorf with a big bouncy cushion and a large shaded sandpit.

Food and drinks

Dining options at Wildhaus include the Berggasthaus Oberdorf with traditional Toggenburg specialities and family menus, the Berggasthaus Gamsalp with a self-service restaurant and sun terrace, the Gamserrugg Hütte serving coffee and snacks, and the 'Pizza am Pistenrand' snack bar with malt-pomace pizza on the Freienalp slope. A Gräppelen Bar is also available for an après-ski drink.

FAQ

  • Is there a beginner ski pass that only covers part of the ski area?
Yes. A beginner day pass is available for beginners and returning skiers and entitles the holder to unlimited rides on the Wildhaus–Oberdorf and Oberdorf–Freienalp chairlifts (family lift) as well as the Oberdorf children's ski lift.
  • Does the Wildhaus season pass also include access to other ski areas?
Yes. With a Wildhaus season pass you can also ski in the Grüsch-Danusa ski area in the Prättigau at no extra charge, and holders of a Wildhaus winter or annual pass receive a 50% discount on day ski passes in the partner areas Wolzenalp, Tanzboden, Pizol, Elm and Malbun (FL).
  • Is there a ski bus and what does it cost?
Yes. With a Wildhaus season pass, the Meilenweiss pass or from a 2-day ski pass onwards you ride the Wildhaus ski bus free of charge directly to the valley station; pedestrians pay CHF 1.00 per ride.
  • Are there parking fees at the mountain railway and can I park overnight?
Parking fees are charged on the car parks of Bergbahnen Wildhaus AG. In winter there is a night parking ban on the mountain railway car parks; overnight parking for guests is available at the Curling Centre (underground garage and outdoors).
  • Can I rent ski and snowboard equipment at the ski area?
Yes. Ski and snowboard equipment can be rented from Beat Sport AG in Wildhaus-Oberdorf, and cross-country skiing equipment is also available for hire.
