Villars/Gryon/Les Diablerets

Villars/Gryon/Les Diablerets
Villars/Gryon/Les Diablerets is a year-round mountain destination in the Vaud Alps with 31 lifts and 104 km of slopes (Glacier 3000 not included). The three sectors of Villars, Gryon and Les Diablerets combine iconic runs such as Grand Chamossaire, Sodoleuvre and the Olympic Piste with snowparks, beginners' zones and one of Switzerland's longest sled runs.

Families and Kids

Each sector has a dedicated children's beginners' zone: the Swiss Ski School Snow Village at Bretaye (from age 3, with magic carpets, group lessons Monday to Saturday 10 a.m.–12 p.m.), the Gryon Snow Garden at Les Chaux (from age 3, morning group lessons including lunch) and the Pure Trace Snow Garden at Les Mazots. Families can also enjoy the Diablerets sled run and the Col de Soud toboggan run in Villars.

Food and drinks

The resort has numerous mountain restaurants across its three sectors. Rocco Cantina Italiana at the top of the Roc d'Orsay gondola serves pizzas and Italian specialities on a large terrace, Roc-Star at the valley station is a lounge bar with daily specials and après-ski, and L'Étable in Gryon offers Swiss cuisine with a panoramic terrace and mini-zoo. BarBu at the Diablerets Express summit serves raclette, mountain specialities and craft beers, and Les Mazots and the Maison de Montagne de Bretaye provide traditional dishes.

FAQ

  • Is there night skiing or night sledging at the resort?
Yes. In Les Diablerets the Willy Favre slope is lit for night skiing every Thursday evening, and a separate sledging run is also open on Thursday evenings (Ski & Luge by Night). In Villars, night ski touring takes place every Tuesday evening from the Roc d'Orsay gondola, with descent permitted only on the Grand Chamossaire, Bretaye-Orsay and Populaire Villars slopes.
  • What is the Diablerets sled run like and how do I reach it?
The Diablerets sled run is groomed and separate from the ski slopes, of medium difficulty. It starts at the top of the Mazots area, reached with the Diablerets Express cable car from the centre of Les Diablerets. Davos-style sledges can be rented in the village or at the gondola base; only sledges with runners are allowed.
  • Which beginners' areas and children's ski schools are available?
Each sector has a dedicated beginners' zone: the Swiss Ski School Snow Village at Bretaye (from age 3, with magic carpets), the Gryon Snow Garden at Les Chaux (from age 3, group lessons 10 a.m.–12 p.m. including lunch) and the Pure Trace Snow Garden at Les Mazots in Les Diablerets. A Beginners' Pass covers the magic carpets and beginner lifts in all three sectors.
  • What is the Magic Pass and is it valid here?
The Magic Pass is an annual transport pass valid from 1 May to 30 April giving unlimited access to over 100 resorts in Switzerland, France and Italy, including Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets and the Alpes Vaudoises ski areas. It is valid on the lifts and the Villars–Bretaye train, but does not automatically include public transport. Its price rises in stages, so buying early is cheapest.
