Vals 3000
Vals 3000 is the ski area on the Dachberg above Vals in the Swiss canton of Grisons, reaching up to nearly 3,000 metres above sea level. An 8-seater gondola lift carries skiers and snowboarders from the valley to Gadastatt at 1,817 metres, where a pony lift serves children and beginners, and three further T-bar lifts lead up to almost 3,000 metres. The area offers around 25 km of groomed slopes, freeride terrain off-piste, and panoramic views stretching from the Eastern Alps and the Bernina Massif to the 4,000-metre peaks of the Valais.
Families and Kids
The Vals ski area is family-friendly: a pony lift at Gadastatt lets children and beginners practise going up and down the mountain, and the Swiss Snowsports School Vals offers group and private lessons for children under 16, with lunchtime supervision available on request. Group lessons meet in the Kleinvalser Arena above the top station of the gondola lift. Sledging runs and an ice rink in the village add to the family offering.
Food and drinks
The Bergrestaurant Gadastatt sits right next to the top station of the gondola lift, and just above it the scHIRMBAR invites guests to rest, with free deckchairs on its sun terrace and fondue evenings on request. Further up the mountain, the Dachberghütte at 2,491 metres serves hot and cold drinks, hearty soups, homemade cakes and regional specialities on its sheltered terrace.
