Nara – Leontica

The Nara – Leontica ski area lies in a wide, sunny basin in the Blenio Valley in Ticino, stretching from 900 m at Leontica up to 2200 m at the Bassa di Nara. It offers around 30 km of pistes for beginners through to experienced skiers, a snowpark at 2100 m with rails and kickers plus a 250 m boardercross, a 5 km sledging run, and a network of chairlifts and surface lifts.

Families and Kids

The sledging run is presented as fun for the whole family, and the Swiss Ski School Nara offers private and group lessons for children in skiing, snowboarding and telemark, including beginner courses on weekends in January.

Food and drinks

The ski area has several refreshment stops: the self-service Ristorante La Pernice at 1500 m with around 200 indoor seats and a large sun terrace, the Nara Beach snack bar at 2123 m at the top of the lifts with views of the Adula and the Blenio Valley, the volunteer-run Bar del Pela in the Bosco Nero at the junction of the ski and sledging runs, and the heated Al Barc near the 2000 surface lift serving hot drinks and minestrone.

FAQ

  • Is there a separate ticket for the sledging run?
Yes. A dedicated sledging day pass allows use of the sledging run only, and the ski day pass also permits use of the sledging run. Sledge rental is not included in either price.
  • What is special about the sledging run at Nara?
It is described as unique in Ticino, running 5 km with 480 m of vertical drop through snowy slopes and coniferous forest; when snow conditions allow, the descent can be extended by another 5 km down to Leontica. The resort also offers the exclusive Skitti sledges, on which you slide sitting down.
  • What does the snowpark at Nara offer?
The snowpark at 2100 m has rails and kickers suited to beginners and more experienced riders, plus a 250 m boardercross course. It is animated during the season by events organised by the Rude Riders group, who are always looking for volunteer shapers.
  • Which ski and snowboard lessons are available?
The Swiss Ski School Nara offers private and group lessons for adults and children in skiing, snowboarding and telemark. Beginner courses take place on weekends in January, and weekly courses are offered around Christmas, New Year and Carnival.
  • Where can I rent ski equipment and sledges?
The Swiss Ski School Nara runs a rental service for skis, snowboards, telemark equipment, snowshoes and sledges in the Cancorì area, below the departure of the second chairlift. Packages combining lessons and rental are available.
  • What dining options are there on the slopes?
There are several refreshment stops: the self-service Ristorante La Pernice at 1500 m with around 200 indoor seats and a sun terrace, the Nara Beach snack bar at 2123 m at the top of the lifts, the volunteer-run Bar del Pela in the Bosco Nero, and the heated Al Barc near the 2000 surface lift.
