Madrisa

Madrisa
Madrisa is Klosters' landmark mountain in Switzerland and a family-friendly ski area between 1887 and 2611 metres above sea level. The area offers 31 kilometres of slopes, several practice lifts for children, an 8.5-kilometre sledging run to Saas and winter hiking trails. The cable car and mountain restaurant are wheelchair accessible, and the 6-seater Schaffürggli chairlift is equipped for monoskiers.

Families and Kids

Madrisa is especially popular with families: four practice lifts and slopes of different lengths, fun runs, a race track and a children's cross give young skiers plenty to do. In Madrisa Land, little ones can practise their first turns on the 'fun riders'.

Food and drinks

The Madrisa-Alp restaurant offers a cosy lunch spot, and the sunny terraces at the mountain station serve home-made delicacies after a snowshoe tour. Further mountain huts such as Madrisa-Hof and Madrisa-Zügenhüttli are also located in the area.

FAQ

  • Is the Madrisa ski area suitable for skiers with disabilities?
Yes. The cable car and mountain restaurant are wheelchair accessible, and the 6-seater Schaffürggli chairlift takes skiers with monoskis up onto the slopes, with automatic safety-bar closing and height adjustment for safe boarding and alighting. A Mountain Drive electric wheelchair can be rented at the Madrisa-Alp restaurant for hiking trails.
  • What is the Madrisa circuit for freeriders?
It is a day tour that crosses two countries with one ticket: from Madrisa over the Madrisafurgga along the old smugglers' trail to Gargellen in Austria, then back to the Swiss side and down to St. Antönien. From there a post bus runs to Küblis, where you can take the Rhaetian Railway back to Klosters.
  • What snowshoe trail starts at the Madrisa mountain station?
A marked snowshoe trail leads from the Madrisa mountain station through deep snow with views over the Prättigau and the Silvretta glacier to the Mässplatte viewpoint. The easy route takes about 2 hours for the return trip and covers 3.5 kilometres.
