Les Portes du Soleil

Les Portes du Soleil is the world's first cross-border ski area, linking 12 French and Swiss village resorts between Haute-Savoie and Valais. It offers around 600 km of skiing, 208 lifts and 307 runs, with slopes for all levels from green to black. The area spans two countries and two currencies, allowing skiers to cross the border on skis.
Families and Kids
The area is family-friendly, with three resorts labelled 'Famille Plus Montagne' (Châtel, Les Gets and Morzine) and numerous areas set up for first tracks. Children's ski schools and snow gardens are available, such as the Piou Piou Club snow garden in Les Gets for children from age 3 and the ESS Swiss Ski School Snow Garden in Morgins.
Food and drinks
More than 90 high-altitude restaurants line the Portes du Soleil ski slopes, ranging from small farm inns to gourmet restaurants. Local specialities include raclette (Valais PDO or Savoie PGI), Berthoud made with Abondance AOP cheese, and Swiss fondue.
