La Fouly
La Fouly is a ski resort in the Val Ferret in the Swiss canton of Valais, at an altitude of 1595 metres, facing the Dolent, the Tour Noir and the A Neuve glacier. The ski area, between 1600 and 2200 metres, offers 20 kilometres of pistes served by four installations, with a varied terrain suited to beginners and freeriders alike. The village is a stage on the Tour du Mont-Blanc and the Grand Tour des Combins, and is also a starting point for ski touring, cross-country skiing and snowshoe walks.
Families and Kids
La Fouly presents itself as a paradise for the youngest as well as for older skiers, with a beginners' carpet and a family-friendly ski area. Children can sledge on the Petite-Combe run (0.6 km), suited to beginners, and follow the Charlotte la Marmotte discovery trail. The École Suisse de Ski de La Fouly offers ski lessons, and a suspended forest trail with four courses and 48 features, including 13 zip lines, is a popular activity for children and adults alike.
Food and drinks
La Fouly and the Val Ferret have cafés and restaurants, including the Hôtel Edelweiss, the Auberge de Maya-Joie and the Hôtel du Col de Fenêtre, a typical small Swiss mountain inn at the foot of Mont Dolent. Several alpine pastures still make their cheese traditionally during the summer grazing season, and the Auberge des Glaciers has a terrace overlooking the end of the ski area.
