FAQ

  • Is there a beginner area at the foot of the Jakobshorn?
Yes, the Bolgen area in Davos Platz at the foot of the Jakobshorn has a magic carpet, a chairlift, practice slopes and the ski school on site, making it ideal for beginners and families.
  • What is the Avalanche Training Center on the Jakobshorn?
Behind the Châlet Güggel restaurant there is an Avalanche Training Center (ATC) where visitors can practise using an avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel on a simulated avalanche cone in realistic terrain. Visiting is free of charge, but you must bring your own transceiver and probe.
  • What does the JatzPark freestyle park offer?
The JatzPark below the Jatzhütte has four lines of varying difficulty with kickers, rails and boxes, from a beginner line to the big kicker 'Big Berta' for pros. It is groomed daily and, thanks to its location at around 2,500 metres, is snow-sure from early December to mid-April.
  • Can I ski from the Jakobshorn summit all the way down to the valley?
Yes, the 'Davos Vertical' valley run (slope no. 42) leads from the summit down to the Bolgen area, covering around 1,000 metres of vertical descent. It is aimed at experienced skiers and snowboarders.
  • Where do the secured freeride routes on the Jakobshorn lead?
When open, the yellow-marked freeride routes lead from the summit into the picturesque side valleys of Sertig (route no. 13, Mühli) and Dischma (route no. 14, Teufi). From the side valleys you can return to Davos by bus.
  • What is the Kids Slope 'Home of Winter' at the Bolgen?
