Gstaad - Saanen - Rougemont

Gstaad - Saanen - Rougemont
Gstaad - Saanen - Rougemont is a varied ski area in the Bernese Oberland with around 200 kilometres of slopes spread across several sub-areas: Rinderberg–Saanersloch–Horneggli, Eggli–La Videmanette and Wispile. The longest descent runs from La Videmanette down to Rougemont. Snowparks, funslopes, learning parks, winter hiking trails and nine sledging runs complete the offer.

Families and Kids

The area is well suited to families: the Wispile is a family mountain with gentle slopes, simple lifts and a learning park right in Gstaad, and the Zückerli and Rütti lifts are ideal for first turns. Learning parks in Zweisimmen, Schönried, Saanenmöser, Gstaad and Lauenen offer conveyor belts, children's ski lifts, carousels and playgrounds, and entry to all learning parks is free of charge. The Funslope on the Hornberg with waves, curves and small obstacles adds adventure for younger guests.

Food and drinks

Mountain restaurants, refreshment bars and lounges are spread across all sub-areas, from the Eggli and La Videmanette mountain restaurants with their sun terraces to the Buvette le Rubloz directly on the slopes and the Valley Station Café at the Videmanette base station. In the Rinderberg–Saanersloch–Horneggli area there is a wide choice of mountain restaurants, ski bars and après-ski venues, including the Iglu-Dorf Bar & Restaurant. Several mid- and mountain stations also have picnic rooms for breaks.

FAQ

  • Do children need their own ski pass, and how do they get through the lifts?
Children up to the age of 6 travel free of charge and receive a free pass at the ticket office. From the age of 6, a reduced child rate applies. Parents can also obtain a Key Card for the whole season at a ticket office for a CHF 5 deposit, so children can use the lifts without visiting the ticket office every day.
  • Is there a cheaper pass for beginners who only stay on the easy slopes?
Yes, the discounted Saani day pass is aimed at people practising their first turns. It is valid on the 1st section of the Rinderberg gondola, the 1st section of the Saanerslochgrat gondola and the Zückerli and Rütti ski lifts on the Wispile, and is bought directly at the respective valley stations.
  • Can I reach the ski area by public transport, and is there a ski bus?
Yes. Direct trains run from Bern to Zweisimmen, and the GPX train connects Interlaken and Spiez with Saanenmöser and Schönried without changes; the valley stations are a few minutes' walk from the stations. The La Videmanette–Eggli area is reached via Bulle, Montbovon and Château-d'Oex with a transfer in Montbovon. Ski buses also run in Gstaad and Saanen from mid-December to mid-March and are free of charge, even without a ski pass.
  • Is parking available at the valley stations and does it cost anything?
Parking is available at all access points, but all spaces are subject to a fee. Depending on the location, payment is possible with coins, via app or with TWINT. A winter parking card for the Gstaad mountain railways car parks is available for CHF 180.
  • Are there lockers or ski storage where I can leave my equipment?
Yes, at the Zweisimmen valley station there is a renovated ski depot with 116 two-person lockers, 32 four-person lockers and 4 group boxes, equipped with helmet hooks and a HybridDry drying system. The lockers are opened with an existing ski pass and can be rented daily, weekly or seasonally at the cash desk.
  • What night skiing options are there?
Every Thursday from 7 January to 25 February 2027, the Eggli hosts night skiing on the floodlit slope at Schopfen from 4.30 pm to 10 pm, combined with fondue at the mountain restaurant and an après-ski party in the lounge. The Rinderberg also offers a cosy, family-friendly night atmosphere with numerous mountain restaurants.
