FAQ

  • Is there a long glacier run at Diavolezza and where does it end?
Yes. The eight-kilometre glacier run on the Pers and Morteratsch glaciers is Switzerland's longest glacier run. It is not groomed and ends at the Rhaetian Railway station of Morteratsch, from where you can take the train back to the Diavolezza valley station.
  • What is special about the Lagalb ski mountain?
Lagalb is a smaller, quieter mountain for connoisseurs on the Bernina Pass. Its steepest slope is the steepest groomed slope in the canton of Graubünden; the La Rösa firn snow run is also popular. Lagalb is closed in summer.
  • Can I stay overnight on Diavolezza?
Yes. The Berghaus Diavolezza at almost 3,000 metres offers newly renovated double rooms with en-suite shower and toilet as well as twin, four-person, six-person and 16-person dormitories. Overnight guests get a head start on day visitors in the morning.
  • What is the jacuzzi at the Berghaus Diavolezza?
On the sun terrace of the Berghaus Diavolezza there is an outdoor jacuzzi at 41°C with a view of Piz Bernina, Piz Bellavista and Piz Palü. It must be booked in advance directly at the Berghaus.
  • What can visitors experience at the VR Glacier Experience at the Diavolezza valley station?
The visitor centre at the Diavolezza valley station uses virtual reality to explain the links between climate change, glacier development and water balance, with four themed tours covering the Morteratsch Glacier, water resources, local fauna and the MortAlive project. It is free of charge and open daily from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • What is the Diavolezza Challenge?
The Diavolezza Challenge is a timed, signposted ski touring route that serves as a training ground for beginners and experienced ski tourers alike. A dedicated ticket including luggage transport is available, with luggage dropped off at the valley station ticket office and collected at the mountain station.
