Ackerhus Local Heritage Museum

The Ackerhus Local Heritage Museum in Ebnat-Kappel (Switzerland) presents four centuries of Toggenburg domestic culture in a historic farmhouse dating from 1752. The collection includes colourfully painted Toggenburg furniture, seven house organs, neck zithers, furniture painting, ornamentation and everyday objects, as well as peasant painting by Babeli Giezendanner and works by other artists. The museum is run by the Albert Edelmann Foundation and the Ackerhus Cultural Association and is complemented by a modern extension serving as a cultural venue with a concert hall. In addition to the permanent exhibition, regularly changing special exhibitions and cultural events are offered.

Families and Kids

The Ackerhus offers a children's programme with craft afternoons where children can build a Toggenburg house together. There are also spoken theatre performances for school classes. Children up to 14 years have free admission.
