The Abegg-Stiftung in Riggisberg, Switzerland, is a museum and research institute dedicated to textile art and applied arts from antiquity to the Baroque. Its permanent collection features woven textiles, silk fabrics, tapestries, and objects from the Ancient Near East, the Silk Road, Late Antiquity, the Middle Ages, Central Asia, the Renaissance, and the Baroque. The foundation also hosts changing temporary exhibitions and operates a textile conservation studio and a study programme.

  • Is the museum wheelchair accessible?
    The museum and special exhibition area are wheelchair accessible. The Villa Abegg is not wheelchair accessible.
  • Can I visit the Villa Abegg without a guided tour?
    No, the Villa Abegg is only accessible with a guided tour. Tours are offered every afternoon from late April to early November for groups of up to 5 people. Advance booking is recommended.
  • Are guided tours available in languages other than German?
    Public guided tours of the special exhibition are offered in German and French. Group tours can be arranged in German, French, and possibly other languages upon request.
  • Is there parking available at the Abegg-Stiftung?
    Yes, parking spaces are available on site.

    Take the S-Bahn to Toffen, then the Postauto bus from Toffen to Riggisberg. During museum opening hours, Postauto services run to the Abegg-Stiftung and back.
